Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we continue to daily face a changing world in dealing with the COVID-19 virus, we as a congregation are responding to an ever-changing landscape.

On the evening of Monday, March 16, the Executive Staff, church and ELC staff, and the Mission & Vision Leadership Board (MVLB) and Dr. Larry Gibbon, in conjunction with the recommendations of the CDC and the Panhandle Health District, have determined the following:

  • We are transitioning to multi-media platforms for worship services.  On-site, public worship services are temporarily suspended through Palm Sunday, April 5th.  We will be providing regular worship services across the following platforms:  website (www.ctkcda.com), Facebook (christ.the.king.coeurdalene), and email links to the service.   We are also willing to provide the worship services on DVD for those who so desire.
  • The MVLB and staff will be re-evaluating our possibilities for worship and future church activities in early April.  We as a staff will be regularly monitoring developments of this situation and will provide updates as needed.
  • If you are on Facebook, please like our page (christ.the.king.coeurdalene), as this will help our communication with you over these upcoming days.
  • This week you will be receiving a call from our CTK ministry team with the goal of understanding how best to connect, any concerns, needs that our congregation can provide, and a time for prayer.
  • With the exception of a modified Love Pantry and ELC, all church activities on CTK property are suspended until further notice.
  • We are modifying CTK office hours to 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, with limited staff presence.  Please call in advance before coming. Doors will be locked, but access is available.
  • Look for more guidelines from the staff, including FAQs, and other alternative ministry options that we as staff will be implementing in the on  upcoming days.

In these tumultuous moments, the exhortation from the writer of Hebrews resonates with me:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. C onsider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”  Hebrews 12:1-3

Admittedly, it can be hard to keep our eyes on Jesus—but, the good news is that God never takes his eyes off of us (Psalm 121:3-4)!  We see in Jesus the deep love and compassionate care the God has for all of us.  In times of discouragement, doubt, fear, and concern, these promises remain for us!

God’s peace to you!

Pastor Jon

Update for Health with Dr. Gibbon

Update on Current plans concerning the health advisory

Dear Friends in Jesus,

We are in a highly unusual situation with no clear rules & an ever-changing guidance from health experts.

As of Friday evening, the Executive Staff, church and ELC staff, and representative members of the Mission & Vision Leadership Board, in conjunction with the recommendations of Panhandle Health District, have determined the following:

  • Weekend services will be held.  That being said, there will be no children’s church, Bible class, coffee/donut hour, or Sunday school.  If you feel concerned about attending, have any health concerns including any underlying chronic medical conditions, or if you at all feel any symptoms of illness, we recommend that you stay at home.  We will post this weekend’s worship to our website and our Facebook page on Sunday evening.
  • Going forward, all Lenten meals will be canceled.
  • All youth events and Bible studies on church property will be suspended until further notice.
  • We will be providing regular updates across the following platforms:  website (www.ctkcda.com), Facebook (christ.the.king.coeurdalene), and email.  Information will also be accessible via calling the church office.
  • Be prepared for changes in this rapidly evolving situation as we try use proper precautions to minimize the potential for Covid-19 exposure and infection.
  • Stay tuned for information about future worship services and other church events/activities.

In these moments, it is easy to let fear and worry consume us.  That being said, it is important to remember that 1) God is in charge 2) Jesus reminds us that he is greater than our fears 3)  nothing separates us from the love of God in Christ Jesus—even if we aren’t physically together for worship.

May the peace that passes all human understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus!

Pastor Jon
