Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we continue to daily face a changing world in dealing with the COVID-19 virus, we as a congregation are responding to an ever-changing landscape.
On the evening of Monday, March 16, the Executive Staff, church and ELC staff, and the Mission & Vision Leadership Board (MVLB) and Dr. Larry Gibbon, in conjunction with the recommendations of the CDC and the Panhandle Health District, have determined the following:
In these tumultuous moments, the exhortation from the writer of Hebrews resonates with me:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. C onsider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:1-3
Admittedly, it can be hard to keep our eyes on Jesus—but, the good news is that God never takes his eyes off of us (Psalm 121:3-4)! We see in Jesus the deep love and compassionate care the God has for all of us. In times of discouragement, doubt, fear, and concern, these promises remain for us!
God’s peace to you!
