Growing Disciples

Whether you’ve been coming to Christ the King your whole life or are just walking in for your very first time, we hope one thing is evident: that we want to engage everyone, everywhere, everyday in our mission—Growing deeper roots in Jesus.

How do we do this?

It’s about discipleship! It’s about raising up disciples—Jesus followers—from every generation… who then help others do the same.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20

Every disciple grows when they root their faith-life in four overlapping arenas.

Identity

Everyday people discovering their identity in Jesus, becoming more like Him.

Rhythms

Learning to live out the age-old disciplines of faith like prayer and meditation, study and service, confession and worship.

Seasons

Each season of life brings its own challenges and joys, struggles and celebrations.

Community

It’s our community of faith that keeps us grounded in Scripture, centered on Jesus, and committed to sharing the hope we have in Him.

What is a Disciple?

Being a disciple is imitating Jesus, something we can only do by Christ living in us and through us. As we grow to become more and more like Jesus, we take on more and more of the characters of Jesus: servant, friend, pray-er, witness.

Becoming like Jesus

The Unhurried Servant

He made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant.
(Philippians 2:6-8)

The Intentional Friend

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends…
(John 15:13-15)

The Courageous Prayer

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
(Mark 1:35)

The Adventurous Witness

For this I was born and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth.
(John 18:37)
