Michael Haas
1. Tell us a little about yourself and your family:
Nancy and I moved to Coeur d’Alene in September of 1978, joining my parents and grandparents, and we have been blessed with four children and six grandchildren. There was a time when four generations of the Haas family were members at CTK. This year, 2026, we will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and 48th year at CTK! To God be the glory!
2. What is the Bible verse you live by, and why?
My Bible verse is the doxology from Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever.” There is no limit to God’s grace, mercy, love, kindness, and forgiveness.
3. What are your favorite things/hobbies/ activities you do in your free time?
We travel often to the Island of Maui to visit our middle son and his family and large extended family. I love Idaho, enjoy the outdoors and love to fish, hunt, and pick huckleberries.
4. Tell us a little about your past roles, education, accomplishments, or anything else you'd like us to know:
From 1978 until 2009 I worked for Columbia Paint and Coating in Spokane, ending my career there as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Shortly after unpacking the moving van in 1978, we became involved in a variety of ministries at CTK, with me serving on the Youth Board, Board of Elders, as Congregational President, and from 2013 to 2025 as Executive Director of Ministries, and Nancy serving on the Youth Board and teaching Sunday School.
From 2006 until 2025, I was also blessed to serve on the Northwest District of the LCMS Board of Directors, the last nine years serving as Board Chair.
We've also served our community, Nancy as Librarian in the Post Falls School District for 30 years and serving on the City of Post Falls Library Board, while I served for several years on the City of Post Falls Planning and Zoning Commission.
5. What is your favorite thing about Christ the King Lutheran Church?
It is the genuine love, care, and compassion for one another and the witness we exhibit to our community. CTK is family!
