Who to Expect

We are men, women, children, plumbers, electricians, businessmen and women, students, teachers, motorcycle riders, athletes, artist, young, and old, but most of all we are family. We exist to LOVE God and others with the love that God first showed us in Jesus, to GROW in our God-given faith while in community with each other, to SERVE others and the Church generously, and to SEND disciples into the world to make new disciples in the name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

FAQs

I haven't been to church in a long time. Is it okay for me to come?

You bet! In fact, we don’t care if you have never been to church. Every weekend, many people visit Christ The King for the first time. Our worship services are easy to follow and don’t require that you have any past church experience.

Do I have to be a Lutheran to come to CTK?

Not at all. It is not necessary for you to be a Lutheran to come to CTK. We are open to all people seeking to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Being Lutheran isn’t nearly as important as simply having a heart to seek Christ. If you want to learn more about Lutheran doctrine, that’s an option. But it’s certainly not a requirement for attending.

What about membership at Christ the King Lutheran Church?

We encourage membership for those who desire to formally align with the mission, values, vision, and beliefs of our congregation. While participation in most activities and many volunteer roles is available to anyone, there are some positions that are reserved for those who have aligned themselves with the church through membership. Membership is a simple, four-step process.

First, attend the New Member Class.
Next, submit a New Member Record Form for church membership along with a transfer of membership (if applicable).
Then, have a casual, informal visit with Pastor Dan.
Finally, be introduced to the congregation on New Member Sunday.

New Member classes and New Member Sundays are scheduled three times each year in September, January, and April. We invite you to attend the class. It will give you an opportunity to learn more about who we are as a congregation and to ask any questions you may have. By attending the New Member class, you are not making the commitment to become a member, but you will be invited to do so upon completion.

Is there a dress code? What should I wear?

Wear what you feel is comfortable and appropriate. We do not have a dress code and we certainly wouldn’t want you to worry about this! Some people wear jeans and t-shirt, while others come in “business casual” attire. Some people prefer to dress up, while others prefer to dress down. We are more concerned about your heart and your needs than we are about your clothing.

What if I want to receive Holy Communion (The Lord's Supper)?

First things first: Jesus said in Matthew 26:26-30, “Take and eat, this is my body… Drink from this cup all of you, this is my blood;” not, “this represents my body” or “this symbolizes my blood.” Baptized adult Christians who believe in the Real Presence of Christ’s body and blood, and know they need God’s daily forgiveness, who are sorry for their sins and seek God’s forgiveness, are invited to share this great gift of God with us. Jesus called us to celebrate Holy Communion until he returns so that we may have forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, and the power to live God-pleasing lives. It is His meal and we come at His invitation.

If you have doubts or do not understand our beliefs about the Lord’s Supper, please connect with Pastor Dan. White grape juice is located in the inner ring of the Communion tray for those who prefer it over wine.

I'm struggling with some personal problems. Is help available?

Yes. Many people, including Christians, face challenges in their personal and family lives. These can include addictions, marital problems, financial crises, abuse, depression, and divorce, deaths of loved ones, physical trauma and emotional problems. We want to support you and encourage healing in your life however possible. It is admirable and courageous to recognize that you need support in sorting out life's difficulties. Please contact the church office to get in touch with our Care Ministry.

How do I get involved?

The opportunities are endless. Perhaps you want to get involved in Bible study or join a Connect Small Group. Maybe you simply want to see where you can volunteer or what’s available for your children or teens. Upcoming events would also give you the chance to fellowship with other believers.
