Christ the King is...

...teachers and students, plumbers and electricians, business owners, motorcycle riders, gardeners, athletes, artists, and retirees. Christ the King is girls and boys, women and men—young and old and everyone in between.

Mostly, Christ the King is God’s people joined in our mission: Growing deeper roots in Jesus! We want to engage everyone, everywhere, every day in that mission.

Growing deeper roots in Jesus motivates us to—

Reach out to friends and neighbors, to our wider communities, and to people around the Northwest and across the globe
Teach people across generations to love others and serve Jesus
Make new disciples—Jesus followers—who in turn make new disciples

What We Believe

Christ the King Lutheran Church was founded in 1955 and is affiliated with the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. We hold to the five “Solas” of the Protestant Reformation—foundational teachings that guide our faith and life:

Sola Scriptura – “Scripture Alone.”

The Bible is the highest authority in the Christian life. We do not change God’s Word—the Word of God changes us (John 17:17).

Sola Fide – “Faith Alone.”

We are justified—made right with God—through faith in Jesus alone (Ephesians 2:8–10).

Sola Gratia – “Grace Alone.”

We are saved solely by God’s grace, an undeserved gift, “not a result of works” (Ephesians 2:8–10).

Solus Christus – “Christ Alone.”

Jesus is the only Savior: “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Soli Deo Gloria – “To God Alone Be Glory.”

All creation and salvation exist for the glory of God. God alone receives the glory for His creating, redeeming, and reconciling work.

The Sacraments: Baptism and Communion

In Lutheran theology, a sacrament is a sacred act instituted by Jesus that joins God’s Word with a physical element (water, bread, wine). Through these gifts, God delivers grace—His undeserved, everlasting love—along with forgiveness and salvation. They are not magic, but tangible means by which God strengthens our faith and makes Christ truly present.

Baptism

At Christ the King, we believe Baptism is where God does something extraordinary.
When simple water is combined with God’s Triune name (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), He gives a new identity: a child of God, with the promise of forgiveness, life, and salvation. Jesus invites all who follow Him to be baptized—from newborns to adults (Acts 2:39).

Communion

We believe the Bible’s teaching that in Holy Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ, in, with, and under the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian, have been instructed in the biblical teaching on Communion, and agree with our confession of faith, you are welcome to commune with us.
